A 4-year-old cancer patient in New York ‘married’ her favorite nurse Matt Hickling at a hospital clinic in Albany.
At the makeshift altar, 4-year-old bride and cancer patient Abby throws herself into the arms of her groom, nurse Matt Hickling.
A 4-year-old cancer patient in New York ‘married’ her favorite nurse Thursday in an adorable ceremony that is going viral. Abby, who is battling pre-B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, got hitched at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers at Albany Medical Center in New York.
Some little girls want to marry their daddies. This 4-year-old cancer-stricken girl wanted to marry her favorite nurse.
And so she did.
Dressed in white and carrying a bouquet of roses, tiny Abby walked down the linoleum aisle of the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers in Albany, N.Y., and into the arms of nurse Matt Hickling, who was wearing a tuxedo T-shirt.
The pint-sized bride, who is battling a rare form of leukemia, had asked to marry her nurse and he was only too happy to oblige.
So today I got to help make a 4 year old leukemia patient’s “wedding” to her favorite nurse Matt Hickling happen at the Melodies Center for Childhood Cancers at AMC. Thanks to Scott Wright and the team at the Enchanted Garden for donating your time and amazing flowers and to everyone at AMC that helped pull this together in less than 24 hours. You people are amazing. THIS is why we go into nursing.

Local businesses donated flowers and a cake for the happy couple, who had roses thrown at their feet in the cancer clinic ceremony this week.
“Amazing Abby,” as her mother calls her, proclaimed “This the best day ever!” Hickling took his child bride for a ride on a toy car and then tolerated having cake smashed in his face.
